우리나라 지폐에 대한 외국기관 그레이딩 인증 등급은 현재까지 69등급이 최고

이며, 미국의 일부 지폐에서 70등급이 가능하다고 합니다.

 

지폐 70등급은 수집가들 사이에 "꿈의 등급" 이며 누구나 소장하고 싶어합니다.

PMG(미국그레이딩인증기관)에서 그레이딩 등급 다음에 EPQ(Exceptions Paper Quality)를 붙이는 것은 65등급이상은 EPQ를 모두 붙이고 30등급에서 64등급 까지는 EPQ가 붙기도 하고 안붙기도 한답니다.

참고로 PMG 회사에서 지폐 그레이딩 등급 부여시 화학적, 물리적 작용을 하지 않은 30등급 이상의 지폐에 대해  지질의 엠보싱상태, 잉크상태 등 지폐의 전반적인 상태를 보고 담당자가 EPQ를 부여할 수 있다고 합니다.

If you own an original note that is Very Fine 30 or better, then you are eligible for PMG's Exceptional Paper Quality designation. PMG uses the designation Exceptional Paper Quality (EPQ) for notes that, in the opinion of PMG graders, are original. By original, we mean that a note has not been physically, chemically, or materially processed to lend the appearance of a higher grade. PMG graders examine the embossing, inks, and overall integrity of each note to make the determination whether it will qualify for EPQ. Notes exhibiting normal wear-and-tear for their respective grades are eligible normal wear may include factors affecting grade such as counting marks and folds. Notes receiving the EPQ designation must furthermore be unrestored. A restored note has had non-original material added to bring its appearance to a known or assumed state.

Perfection is a term that is frequently bandied about in the world of numismatics. However, the exceedingly complex processes involved in the printing and circulation of paper money causes this level of quality to be extraordinarily rare indeed.

 

The exceptional consistency and integrity of the grading process at PMG also demands notes awarded with the grade of 70 to be unquestionably flawless. As a result, only one note - a 1935G US Silver Certificate - out of the more than 470,000 total notes graded by PMG since the company began operations in 2005 has attained the distinction of 70; until now.

 

The excitement in the PMG grading room can not be underestimated when such a note of unusual quality comes through. That being said - the grading team is proud to announce that PMG has graded a 1957B US Silver Certificate at 70.

 

Featuring exceptional embossing, flawless plate and registration centering, and vibrant eye-appeal, this note is an outstanding example of the artistry and craftsmanship of currency production in its highest degree.
